Jim's Corner

Dyer's was founded in 1927 by John Dyer.  It was originally an auto body shop and wrecker service (there wasn't much indoor plumbing around town at the time).  It wasn't until the 1950's, when public water and sewer service began to be installed in town, that Dyer's entered the plumbing industry.

We've got some great old pictures that we've had lying around for years.  Here's a few of them:

This photo from 1960 shows the neon sign that used to hang in front of the store. Thanks to Chip Cheek for the groovy neon effect! Here's a photo from 1960 showing one of our service trucks. This photo is from 1963 showing a view looking North on Hamilton St. The welding shop was housed in this part of the shop at the time. This photo is from 1964. From the left: Wayne Hicks, <unknown>, <unknown>, Jimmy Dyer, <unknown>, <unknown>, <unknown>, <unknown>, <unknown>, John Dyer, <unknown>, Brewer Dyer, <unknown>, Richard Dyer, <unknown>

This is a campaign card from 1962. This photo from 1964 is the same as the one above, only from a different angle. This photo is from a 1999 Christmas party. From the left top row: Benny Mangus, Jim Hubbard, Jason Hensley, Wayne Hubbard, John Hubbard, Bryant French, Steve Citty, Charles Bullins, Wayne Hicks, James Rogers, Donald Hurd, Chuck Rogers, Mike Roney, Henry Closson, Mike Starnes. Bottom row: Megan Fagge, John Dyer, Nell Hubbard

We've got a few more, but I need to put them into some sort of order first.  More coming soon!
