Web Changes 
This is where we'll announce the most recent
additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's
changed, take a look here first.
11/13/03 John Dyer passed away
recently, and we're all just getting back to normal. It was a terrible
blow, but life goes on. He touched a lot of lives, and I'm proud to call
him my Grandfather.
4/2/03 Yes, I'm lazy and the website
looks just like it did a year ago, but behind the scenes, I've been working hard
on making some hardware and software changes. This is actually the third
server which has hosted this site, and I'm now running an OS (Debian)
which I hope I can stay with for years to come, or at least as long as the
hardware will run. So long Redhat, it
was fun while it lasted.
3/12/02 Made a few changes to the
home page.
1/25/02 XLProject.com
is now up and running. It's still a work in progress, but take a look why
don't ya.
1/14/02 Added a couple more tips on
my Linux Stuff page.
1/11/02 I found a really great
firewall system called Shorewall. Read
about it on my Linux Stuff page.
1/1/02 I'm working on building a server to
host a website dedicated to my XLProject
system of estimating & project management. Actually, it's just another
prehistoric computer I had lying around the house now being pressed into
service, but the point is, look for news and information here for when I get the
site up and running.
11/26/01 Added my Access
Stuff page and also added my Multiplication
section to the Excel Stuff page.
11/23/01 Added my Excel
Stuff page.
11/14/01 Reordered the navigation bar to
the left and added a new section called Sales, a
page called Welding Service, and cleaned up a few visual 'faux pas'.
Also added the nifty "Service" graphic at the top of the page. Yeah, it's been a slow week.
11/13/01 I decided to create a
little corner of this website for my own personal interests. Check out Jim's
Corner. I also moved the Linux Stuff
page there.
11/12/01 Changed the logo again
because some fonts I used didn't display well on some computers. Also
added a page called Linux Stuff, so I can ramble
on about computers and other miscellaneous things you probably don't care about.
11/7/01 Changed the background image
a little and softened up the Dyer's logo. Looks a little better I guess,
but graphics is just not my thang. Cleaned up some other stuff here and
there. Also put a Google search tool on the home
page.
10/29/01 Added Swimming
Pool Service page and a few more pictures to the History
Page. Also got rid of some pointless ramblings about our server on
this page, cuz only geeks like me care about that stuff anyway.
This site is hosted (for now, anyway) on
an old computer I had lying around and runs the RedHat
Linux operating system. In case you don't know what Linux
is, it's a "free" industrial
strength operating system based on Unix. Most of the software which
runs on Linux is free as well, such as the Apache web
server (Apache runs most of the web sites on the Internet).
If you're a Linux user (especially if you live near Eden,
NC), drop me a line. I mention the
OS around here and all I get is blank stares. I've put up a Linux
Page now, just so I can prattle on incessantly about computer stuff. Check
it out.
